Tribute From Paddy Flood
Jimmy was part of my St. Eunan’s (Letterkenny) under 18 team which won the Donegal minor hurling championship in July 2011. When I think of the happiness surrounding that period it only heightens the terrible sense of loss at the tragedy of Jimmy’s untimely death. Jimmy was a much loved member of our team since he first came out to our club as a tall, skinny twelve year old with a strange English accent. He worked hard in training and fit in well with all the rest of the boys. This was not hard for him to do, as all his colleagues could see the goodness and decency in him. As a manager he was wonderful to work with and had the potential to make a huge contribution to our club and community. To see that potential taken away is sad beyond words. Jimmy had some difficulties over the last couple of years as young men frequently do. My full expectation was that he would work through this tough time and settle down as often is the case. His fundamental goodness and decency would have ensured this. Unfortunately, Jimmy did not get the bit of luck you need in life to move on and succeed. His team mates and I are devastated by his loss. Our hearts go out to his wonderful family whom we often saw out supporting him. He will always be remembered as the beautiful young man he was in our club, his home place.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam (May his soul sit on the right hand side of God).

The logo which we are using is very personal to Jimmy and to us as it is his hand print. These were taken at the hospital just before he died as a keep sake. Its one of the last memories that we have of him and wanted to use it in a positive way.
Jimmy was 20 years old, loved life and loved sports. He was a very keen family man, always helped us his 2 sisters and his nieces, one of which suffers with autism. We always said he was a "Mammy's boy" as he would always have the fire set for Mum when she came home from work and dinner would be on, Jimmy would be up in his too playing the Xbox and Mum would come in from work or wherever she had been and he would be straight down the stairs making her a coffee, mum said he wasn't a Mammy's boy he was just well trained.
Jimmy moved over to England in 2012 to look after his dad Martin who is very ill with cancer and to join the army.

This is a picture of Jimmy on life support in the hospital. It has been published in many of the newspapers but none say why we took it.
We took it as his sister Katie couldn't make it over before the machines were turned off and she really wanted to know if he was in any pain or if he was hurt. So Sammii took the picture with the hospitals permission to send to Katie just so she could see what we were seeing.
He wasn't in any pain and he just looked like he was sleeping.
The only reason we released this picture to the media so we could show people what legal highs can do to you.

To start off, Jimmy and I were so close from the beginning. When he was a new born I slept walked into his bedroom with the hot chocolate powder from the kitchen and spoon fed it to him.
The last time I spoke to him was on the Sunday before he left us. Ill always remember him telling me that day that I was an idiot because me and my friend went to a wedding fair pretending to be engaged.
Like any brother sister relationship we had our problems but we always got through them. We were always close. We hung out most of the time and also had the same friends. We were like twins. I was very protective of Jimmy. Jimmy had asked my friend why, also said he was glad I was. He just didn't want me to worry about him. Sorry jimmy i cant help it. Anytime he had a problem I was there and plenty of people know you don't start on my brother while I'm around.
He meant the world to me. I couldn't have had a better brother. He could be a pain in the butt but I loved him for him. Im going to miss our chats and seeing him with my girls. He was a natural. My heart is broken, but it makes me happy to have had all the times I've had with him. I would do it over and over. And no matter what i would go to the end of the earth for him. I love you jimmy and will see you again one day.
Zoe and Kimberly will love you always and they will hear all the story's I have and will know they had a great uncle that loved them.
I have so many memory's with jimmy and will cherish them forever. Ill also always remember our favorite nights out together in Voodoo Venue to and under 18s disco we were drinking even tho we weren't meant to be. At the end of the night Jimmy hugged me and told me he loved me. That night was special and will never forget it.
Rest in peace my little bimbo my heart is with you forever and always
